PLAIN LANGUAGE PUBLICATION – Know your rights

Check out the plain language publication Know Your Rights (English ~ 2.7MB PDF l French ~ 3MB PDF) that was done in collaboration with the NWT Human Rights Commission. We acknowledge the assistance of the Alberta Human Rights Commission, which gave us permission to model our publication on their plain language publication “Human Rights in Alberta”. It’s easy to read and has many examples that explain different kinds of discrimination situations. Limited hard copies are also available for classroom use. Give us a call or drop into our office.

WOMEN’S EQUALITY WEBSITE GEARED TO YOUTH

Check out www.youth.westcoastleaf.org. The West Coast Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (West Coast LEAF) formed in 1985 when the equality guarantees of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms came into force. Their goal is to change historical patterns of systemic discrimination against women in Canada. They seek to achieve women's equality through the courts, by advocating for law reform, and through public legal education.
